This week's Friday Feature goes out to a few of our amazing members! Meet Anika, Monica and Ana Sofia. You can find them working in our Fremont space with The Evergrey!

The Evergrey team has been part of our community since the beginning when we first opened our Capitol Hill space. After hearing about The Riveter from friends and fellow members, they became part of our community and we've loved having them since the early stages of our journey. We took some time to chat with Monica about her work, her experience at The Riveter and her team's recent milestone: The Evergrey Turns One!

What are a few of your favorite things about The Riveter?

The feel of the spaces is great. Fresh, motivating, a lot of spaces to spark creativity and move around as we see fit. The people are amazing. Lots of other members who are as driven as we are working to create awesome things. It's a strong work ethic, but it's nice too to see the schedule and note that there's a guided meditation, a session on nutrition, etc. It feels like a caring community — that's the best part.

Tell us about yourself! Include 3 fun facts.

I am the cofounder of The Evergrey, along with Anika Anand, and also work with our wonderful storytelling producer, Ana Sofia Knauf. I'm a mom of two kiddos who are my everything: Julian is five and Lina is three. I'm married to Jason Preston, the cofounder of Dent, so there's a lot of startup/entrepreneurial talk in our house. And I love to sing and play the piano.

Tell us about your role with The Evergrey.

I am the director of The Evergrey, so I lead the brand, write and direct the daily newsletter (do you subscribe yet?) and build partnerships and relationships to strengthen our community. The Evergrey is focused on helping locals connect to this amazing city, and I do all I can to help us be excellent at that.

What is The Evergrey? How can members get involved (any events?) ?

It's an essential email newsletter — a daily cheat sheet to Seattle. It's a community of people who want to connect to the place they live. It's a roundup of resources, communities, people and perspectives that help you live like you live here. The best way to get involved is to subscribe at theevergrey.com. That's how you'll hear about all the other fun stuff we've got going on.

Tell us The Evergrey founding story.

It's a fun one. Check it out here

What is your advice to women professionals / entrepreneurs.

Never ever ever hold back because you think you don't know enough. Nobody knows enough when they start, and the best way to learn is to do it.

What's your perspective on success / failure?

Failure is learning. Learning is growth. Growth brings success. Doing what you really want to do — and doing it well — takes humility and resilience and surrender to the process of being broken down and rebuilt with every new struggle. This stuff is hard. It has to be. And you can do it.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

Raising two kick-ass little kids, and helping to build an incredible community of Seattle locals who care about the city and each other.

If you could go back in time, what year would you travel to? Why?

I'd go to France in the 1700s and 1800s so I could be part of a French salon. Those were in-person conversation groups where people talked about the most fascinating things and didn't hold back, making an art of conversation.

What would you sing at karaoke night?

I love karaoke! I once won Seattle Startup Week Karaoke with Alanis Morrissette's "You Oughtta Know," so maybe that. Also a big fan of Lorde's "Royals."

What was your favorite thing about The Evergrey's one year celebration party Wednesday night?!

The people and the energy and how it felt like it could have gone on for hours and hours!

Congrats on turning one and your sold out celebration!

Head over to our Fremont space to meet The Evergrey team and follow them on social media @the_evergrey and @theevergrey. Also subscribe to live like you live here in Seattle!
