Friday Feature: Lief Larson

This week's Friday Feature goes out to another amazing member! Meet, Lief Larson. You can find him working in our Fremont space with his startup, JennyLife

Lief is relatively new to The Riveter after joining the community around Thanksgiving. Lief and his colleagues stumbled upon us "by accident" (but we call it fate) when seeking a meeting place for their startup, a mom-focused life insurance business. Now, we're lucky to have him and his team in our space regularly! We took some time to chat with Lief about his work with JennyLife and his experience with us.

What are a few of your favorite things about The Riveter?

We really like the clean elegance of the environment and the focused "neighborhood" of working professionals, the daily smiles and waves hello, and the view is to die for.

Tell us about yourself!

We are a team consisting of: an amateur astronomer, a traveling polka musician and a former Ginseng farmer.

Tell us what you do!

We launched a life insurance business catering to women and moms.

What is JennyLife? How can members get involved?

JennyLife is the world's first mom-focused insurance brand. We would love to make sure The Riveter members are properly covered for unforeseen circumstances. We're also recruiting The Riveter members to share their feedback/insights on our mobile apps and website.

Tell us your founding story.

Both founders' wives could not find life insurance that was simple, economical and formulated to a mother's financial needs and that of her children. So instead of being turned down for coverage multiple times and facing a long underwriting process, we figured we would solve this obvious and large need. Most life insurance requires tests and giving blood. We're different. You can apply entirely from your mobile phone with no health exams. It's life insurance, uncomplicated.

What is your #1 piece of advice to professionals / entrepreneurs.

Two pieces of advice: Focus and speed.

What's your perspective on success / failure?

Success and failure is determined by whether any real organic value has been created in the universe.

What is your favorite book / podcast of all time?

"Fortune in Formulas" by Hiscox and Sloane (out of print). You should get it because it has old farm wisdom in making do with things you have.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

Our business births and childrens' births!

If you could go back in time, what year would you travel to?

200 million B.C. It was so Mesozoic.

What's rocking your world this month?

Reading about Henrietta Lacks.

Head over to our Fremont space to meet and chat with Lief and keep an eye out for JennyLife launching soon–there's lots to come in 2018!

Stay tuned every Friday for a feature blog post on The Riveter members! We have amazing members in our Capitol Hill and Fremont spaces and we're excited to share their stories. #TheRiveterMembers
